WDE drawings 1/25/07

This week-end there were lots of fun photos to work from. I got a new sketchbook that is brown kraft paper. I have drawn this salt marsh with micron pen and white Prismacolor pencil. Then, I tried my hand at colored pencil oranges and mangoes. Finally, I drew these Camelia and Albutin flowers done in ink over pink and orange WC wash.

This week-end at Wet Canvas there was a lovely photo of a yellow poppy which I did with pencil, pen and ink and then WC wash. It was fun!

First digital attempt

For Christmas my husband gave me a "Wacom tablet". It was not as easy to use as I had imagined! Also, I am still struggling to learn the mechanics of using Photoshop to "paint". I also have Corel 2 (the free version) but, alas, it comes without directions and I can't begin to figure out how to use it!! anyway, here is my first attempt at "painting" digitally. I scanned in a drawing of a poinsettia and then went to work on it. I mostly used paintbrushes and the "smudge" tool. Its a good baseline to measure my progress! I want to have it look more like a watercolor painting -- will continue to learn!!

Rhode Island Lighthouse

We were in Rhode Island over the holidays and the weather was mild. We walked along the shore of Naragansett Bay and saw the Conimicut lighthouse --
