I have been looking at and doing some of the exercise in Lee Hammond's colored pencil book "Birds". Now if I could only do this on my own when I really see an actual seagul!!
PENNY!!! FANTABULOUS!! Oh, hon -- this is gorgeous!! GREAT details, shading -- all of it!! AWESOME! and in person?? hon, my eyes don's work that well -- that's why photos help so much! I can see the details!!
Penny, this is a great drawing! The biggest thing to overcome when drawing the actual thing (at least for me) is a sort of fear that I won't get it right. Just go do it and you'll surprise yourself. Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog. The self portrait you commented on is a pencil drawing that I "enhanced" a little in photoshop.
