Self-portrait #9

This one done mostly in Photoshop. Doesn't look much like me, but I enjoyed playing with the colors and learning a bit about Photoshop!

Self-portrait #8

Instead of doing a portrait OF myself, I have done a portrait ON myself! Several of my friends got together to celebrate the summer solstice today and we painted our faces!

Self-portrait #6

Well, I feel like I made a bit of progress on this one! It is done with water-soluble graphite (my first go at those!) I drew from a photo of myself that I "posterized" in photoshop so that I could see the values better!

self-portrait Number 5

Well, I thought if maybe I snuck up on myself, I might be able to get a better portrait!! Still learning!

Self-portrait #4

OK -- Brutally honest -- right out of the shower!

Self-portrait #3

Another attempt with colored pencils. I was doing just fine until I got to the ears and I had made them too dark -- so, I made the mistake of trying to erase!! Well, lesson learned -- colored pencils cannot be erased!! I was left with two dark gray blobs on the side of my head! So then I tried to make the entire drawing darker -- which also didn't entirely work! Eventually I tried to "fix" the ears in photoshop! Anyway, the learning continues!!

Self-portrait #2

This one done while at a boring meeting!

Self-portrait marathon

Like many EDMers, I am taking up the challenge of drawing self-portraits for 4 weeks. At least two per week. The challenge is to make each one more and more honest or realistic. I have drawn myself with my "normal" serious expression -- and with lots of lines on my mouth. Not how I like to see myself -- but more honestly what I see most often when I look in the mirror.

Seagull

I have been looking at and doing some of the exercise in Lee Hammond's colored pencil book "Birds". Now if I could only do this on my own when I really see an actual seagul!!

BC "Favorite"

This month's blind contour challenge is to draw a "favorite" -- and this week's EDM challenge is to draw a drink. I have combined the two. My favorite drink? "Luna di Luna" white wine which comes in a lovely blue bottle!
