this one from a photo in the Detroit Free Press. I just enjoy practicing by doing these drawings from photos. Sometimes I am happy with how they come out -- and other times not. The skin tones in this one are not as good as some of my others -- and I don't have enough subtlety in her eyes. I'm always open to helpful criticism!!

I am having fun playing with paint and working on photos from Flickr -- This one of "Maki". I had to do a bit of "erasing" with Photoshop as I had her head a bit too big. I'm learning! Also I see she is listing a bit to the left!

WDE Nov. 18

Week-end Drawing Event at Wet Canvas this week-end posted a photo of Dewi's Grand Nephew. I had fun painting the skin tones -- but do not have the proportions right at all. It was a young child and my painting looks like a teen-ager. I'm not sure why -- any suggestions?

I have been impressed by the portraits on Danny Gregorys blog of late -- and have tried my hand at some. I have mostly used images from Flickr to work from. The young girl was given watercolor wash on the paper and the Muslim woman was "painted" using photoshop!

Our little dog has been sick this week. Usually he is running around and barking and squiggling so that I could never draw him. His quietness has allowed me this opportunity. Hope he is up to his old tricks soon!
